Willow J

As a graduate of ACARTS Willow J has worked extensively as an actor and burlesque performer throughout the globe. Trained in many different techniques including butoh, tango, performance art, and Bouffant with acclaimed master Phillippe Gaulier, she enjoys bringing depth of physicality to her characters.Willow has been working in collaborative theatre productions since 1992 with many different companies, in many different styles ranging from experimental and shock theatre to cabaret, burlesque, physical theatre, independent and community theatre. She recently had the pleasure of touring the Australian/Japanese collaborative Green Room Award Winning production, DasSHOKU SHAKE! to Tokyo and Osaka in December 2014. Known for her innovative and provocative acts, Willow J entered the world of burlesque in 2002 as a member of the notorious neo-burlesque troupe Voodoo Trash Dolls. With passion and commitment she has now established herself with international recognition as a solo artist performing in prestigious events including The London Burlesque Festival, The Australian Burlesque Festival and the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend 2013 in Las Vegas. As a keen teacher wanting to share her knowledge and skills with the community, she co-established Bottoms Up! - Australia's Most Fierce School of Burlesque & Pole Dancing - in 2008. As an actor some of Willow’s credits include 2012 Green Room Award Winning production DasSHOKU SHAKE!,(45 Downstairs and Darwin Arts Festival 2013, Tokyo and Osaka 2014), Measure for Measure (ACARTS-Adelaide), All of Which Are American Dreams (Theatreworks), The Stitch (Carlton Courthouse), Elmo (LA Mama), Empire (Melbourne Fringe, Adelaide Fringe), Parallels (Feature film), Sensing Murder (TV series), Prostitute – Who Is She (Fitzroy Reading Room), Last Man Standing (TV Series), and numerous TV commercials.Willow J can't wait to bring Burlesque to Japan!

 

Adelaide College of the Artsを卒業後、女優やバーレスクパフォーマーとして世界中で活動。 舞踏やタンゴなど多くのパフォーマンステクニックを学び、肉体と精神を深く融合させたパフォーマンスを行う。 1992年から様々な企業とシアタープロデュースのコラボレーションをし、多くの実験的なスタイルでキャバレーやバーレスクの劇場などに衝撃を与えた。 バーレスク界で革新的で挑発的なパフォーマンスで知られるようになり、2002年にネオバーレスクグループ「Voodoo Trash Dolls」として活動開始。 ソロパフォーマーとしてもThe London Burlesque Festival、The Australian Burlesque Festival 、The Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend 2013など大きなバーレスクイベントにも出演し世界的にソロパフォーマーとしての存在も確立させた。 そのパフォーマンススキルを共有することをダンス講師達から熱望され、2008年にBottoms Up! - Australia's Most Fierce School of Burlesque & Pole Dancing -を共同設立。 2014年12月には、東京と大阪にてオーストラリアと日本のコラボ企画「Green Room Award Winningproduction, DasSHOKU SHAKE! 」で来日。
